Vertical neck bands are caused by the prominent edges of the platysma muscles as they separate from each other. The appearance of these bands can be reduced with the injection of 5-10 units of Botox in the office! Also, the front of the neck, including the bands, can be tightened with a short procedure called a platysmal plication. This 1 hour procedure can be done under light IV sedation and is a great option for patients with neck bands who are not yet candidates for a lower facelift/necklift.
