Your Rhinoplasty Consultation Meeting with Dr. Mehta

To prepare for your nose job in San Francisco at Mehta Plastic Surgery, you’ll begin with a private consultation. During this meeting, Dr. Mehta will talk to you about your goals for surgery—including your desired aesthetics, current insecurities, and expectations. This conversation is the most critical piece of the rhinoplasty process because it gives Dr. Mehta the information he needs to meet your goals.

After this conversation, he will examine your nose, underlying nasal bones, cartilage, and more. He’ll use a nasal speculum to evaluate the interior of your nose and determine the status of your cartilage and the degree (if any) of your deviation.

Visualizing Your Results

Dr. Mehta knows that educated patients are satisfied patients. That’s why he devotes a large portion of the initial consultation to helping you visualize your results. He’ll photograph your nose from several angles and display the images on a larger screen. Then, he’ll digitally adjust your nose so you can see how your appearance will respond to surgery.

This is also a critical part of the process because it gives you an opportunity to share your aesthetic desires. He’ll want to know how you feel about what you’re seeing on the screen, what you don’t like, and what adjustments feel most like you.

Tailoring Your Surgical Plan

The final portion of your rhinoplasty consultation involves developing a customized surgical plan that encompasses everything you and Dr. Mehta discussed. We want you to walk away from this conversation feeling confident about the process ahead and with a detailed understanding of what to expect before, during, and after nose surgery.

What Can I Expect From Nose Surgery in San Francisco?

On the day of your nose surgery, our San Francisco team will welcome you to the surgical center and review your procedure details. Before the anesthesiologists come in, you will meet with Dr. Mehta one last time to discuss final questions and concerns before surgery.

Dr. Mehta works with leading, board-certified anesthesiologists from Medical Anesthesia Consultants (MAC). They have a close working relationship that helps to ensure your safety. Once the general anesthesia has taken effect, Dr. Mehta will refine your nasal structure with careful artistry and precision.

He typically uses the open approach, with an imperceptible incision between your nostrils, but he can also adopt the closed approach if necessary. He’s a true expert in septal perforation repair and uses the latest technological advances to perform the procedure.

With a talent for both primary and revision rhinoplasty procedures, Dr. Mehta is known for tailoring his technique to meet his patients’ nuanced desires—ensuring subtle, natural changes that create an objectively beautiful nose.

Functional Rhinoplasty

If you require surgery because you’re having trouble breathing, we will perform functional nose surgery. With this approach, Dr. Mehta will make internal changes to straighten a deviated septum, widen your nasal valves, or reduce the size of your turbinates.

If you require cosmetic and functional nose surgery in San Francisco, Dr. Mehta can perform them at the same time. Many insurance carriers will offset a significant portion of the procedure costs if you’re having surgery due to breathing challenges, a deviated septum, septal perforation, or a broken nose.
